Something that every science class should have more of is, beakers. Whenever beakers are being used there are always acouple that end up broken.

All aspects within the science department can be improved using these laptops by implementing various pieces of software that could enhance education and concepts learned within the classroom.

Chemistry - The periodic table is very important in chemistry. However, periodic tables on paper are either not very detailed or take up too much space. This interactive periodic table can provide more efficiency and detail in viewing the periodic table, as it provides various ways of looking at the elements as well as more info on them when clicking on a particular box.

Physics, Astronomy, and Space and Time - There are many programs on the internet that provide some sort of "space exploration." One example of this is the program Orbiter, a space flight simulator. This program offers obvious benefits in astronomy and "space and time" classes. For example, one can instantly go to specific planets or view constellations from our solar system. It provides accurate orbit speeds and directions that can really help someone understand these concepts. This program could also help with a physics class. A person in this program can launch a space ship from the ground or a planet and there are many measurements necessary to get it into orbit. For example, getting the right thrust, angle, and "orbit eccentricity." One example of a project that can explore the launch of a satellite or space shuttle could be getting one of the following into orbit around a planet.

With many other classes, instead of using specific programs or software to enhance learning, one can simply view models of a subject that are found on the internet. For example, during biology, a student can view a time-lapsed video of a cell undergoing mitosis or meiosis. Other animations or models regarding a subject could help to learn a subject as well. In addition, hardware can be attached on the computer along with software, such as tools like an accelerometer, microscopes, and other tools that can somehow take data from something and that can load onto a graph onto the computer. One example where this was attempted was when I was a Freshman, my teacher used thermometers attached to the computer to record how a simulated "sun" (a lamp) affects the simulated "earth" (thermometer) and software was used to put this information onto a graph. However, the laptops would make this easier, as the laptops that were used had problems (such as taking too long to load or just a lack of organization and clarification as to what to do). More powerful and organized laptops could speed up learning to help understand a concept like this (the temperature of earth at different locations and angles).
